Show us a logo you really love.
I love your wonderful design! Can’t believe how excited I was to open up the e-mail and when I saw the logo I was stunned. I don’t want to take up your time but once I tell you this “story” you will see how applicable your logo really is……..On Mothers Day one of my german shepherds, Bub, took ill suddenly. She went out to the back yard and sat on the highest patch of ground we have – she has never sat there before. I went and sat with her and put ½ of her in my lap (she was 110 pounds). Within 30 minutes she was gone. Her partner of 10 years, a male shepherd named Guenther, was on our deck watching on and when she passed he started howling. Sunday night and last night he went out rather late at night, by himself and was howling at the moon. When I opened your e-mail it struck me so profoundly that I could not believe it. Guess it is the right logo for me…….
Show us something you did, made, saw or bought this past weekend.
What is cob you say? Well, I'm glad you asked. Cob housing is a style of building that has been done for thousands of years. Taking natural materials that are indigenous to your area you sculpt your own house/cottage/dwelling. In most places this is going to be a mixture of clay, straw and sand.
Laura and I were looking into it two years ago and through the business of life, starting a business, etc... i put it way on the back burner. Spring is coming and it is time to start playing with dirt again. I'd like to build an earthen stove this year to get my hands in cob and see how it goes. Maybe after that would be a small playhouse or shed.
This book that I bought off of amazon was written in 1994 and is absolutely the go to resource for cob building. Just to be nice well more than half of this book is online for everyone to read.
Why would we want to do this? It's very low impact on the earth. A cob structure lasts for hundreds of years with very simple upkeep. It is a full family and community project. Designing your own house, building it with your own hands from the earth... how wonderful would that be? VERY energy efficient, being made mostly out of earth it is naturally cool in the summer and easily warmed in the winter. The houses are absolutely beautiful pieces of art full of personal character!
We're eventually looking for a farm... have a cow, chickens, etc... somewhere down the road we're going to have a cob house. What a better time to start research than right now? They have workshops where you can work on someone's house for a weekend and get tons of hands on experience.
More information and more pictures? Here's a super old blog post from when i first found out about cob
Take a photo of something in motion.

Show us some shades of blue.
this was the first one that came to mind...
I just recently revised my portfolio for the 2007 season and this one came to mind to. Taken at the United States Naval Academy here in Annapolis, MD... It is the most beautiful chapel I shoot in regularly, I've probably shot close to 20 ceremonies here. The stained glass is incredible, I have a few tattoos planned based on the stained glass there. Why do they have primary blue carpet? I don't know... but it's pretty bad.
okay, so it's not shades of blue but i can't post about the USNA without posting this image taken in 2005! More information on the USNA can be found here
Show us what's in your pocket.
I have zero time right now, yet i find twenty minutes to empty my pockets and participate... I looked through some of the responses and it looked like people were just finding images on the internet showing what is in their pockets as opposed to actually taking a picture of your actual pockets.
