We played with Photo Booth for a little while after dinner last night. Elias and Eva made a couple videos. Eli directed (as usual), narrated and picked out the effect he was going for (so excuse the weird pop art)... The MBP webcam really doesn't do well in anything but full sun, so i was manning the flashlight. Elias dances all the time to the music in his head, spinning, twirling, whatever... He has learned to channel his Inner-Napoleon-Dynamite..
just a couple quick observances... I bought Laura flowers while I was out yesterday at the grocery store, I peeled the price tag off the plastic wrapper but only the TOP price tag came off. The price tag underneath that tag was $4 less. I know I'm paying more for flowers on V-Day but shouldn't they hide it a little better than that?
Later that evening we went out without the kids. I called PF Changs, a sit down Chinese restaurant that is super Gluten-free friendly. three hour wait. I should have thought about that much earlier in the day but I didn't think they would have that long of a wait. But it was okay, we went to Borders and invested a bunch of money in books we couldn't live without. We were seated at 10:30p and dinner was great.
We took the kids duckpin bowling yesterday. We found lanes that have a special every Thursday... we were a day early i guess :o) They had a lot of fun, Eva is fighting sickness so she'll have more fun next time we go.
Elias ended up in second place yesterday! Duckpin (and gutter barriers) really levels the playing out.
A few days ago we went to a big train display at a local plant/flower store, the kids were really looking forward to going and had a lot of fun watching the trains weave through the mountains, over bridges and past all the cool details of the train village.
Eli got the motherload of legos
Eva giving Laura a huge hug after exclaiming, "A CAN!!! I LOVE IT!!!"
(It was a plastic tube of pony tail holders... but you know, 'can'... she was close)

Laura and I spent two years talking through IMs and seeing each other every other weekend as we lived 90 minutes away from each other... I remember a few times we didn't see each other for over a month. That seems like a lifetime ago yet still so familiar. I'm blessed with a wonderful wife and even more to not have to communicate with her through IMs anymore (though we still email each other on a regular basis). This xkcd brought me back to those same feelings that I had almost every night.
A full length animoto slideshow... this is cool! btw... they have a pretty large collection of royalty free music from myspace artists... the song i chose sounded good in the preview, the words don't exactly fit but i didn't hear them until after the movie was built... perhaps i'll rebuild the movie later with a song from my computer.
Eli wanted to vlog but couldn't think of anything to say... he kept starting and stopping the recording and trying to do things over... laura wasn't dressed to be broadcast to the world, somehow a fog rolled in while she was on camera and she won't have to worry about being seen in her pajama pants, who would have guessed?! It's kind of long but i didn't feel like editing it down...
We went to Teen Challenge Training Center in Rehrersburg, PA this weekend. It was my first time up at the farm and didn't know really what to expect. We had a great time and I'm looking forward to heading back up to the Lebannon area again in the future!

I mentioned a couple days back that i would dig out our old cartoon family portrait, south park style. This is from 2002 and one child ago, next is the recent simpsons style portrait... Elias had a mohawk off and on from like 20mos-5years old. We always joked that he would rebel against our punk ways and only wear abercrombie... if he looks back on his younger pictures he shakes his head in disgust that we did that to him :o) now that i've mentioned that, i should dig out some little elias pictures while i have that external hard drive connected.
Also pictured is my sister Sarah and Laura's dog pee-wee that she had since she was young. Pee-wee lived only a couple more years after this due to epilepsy and other old dog issues.
