I bought Eli and Eva these kid's caving flashlights.. they were like $5 a piece and I knew they would have fun exploring dark rooms or whatever.. Eva has been wearing hers non-stop and looking very special needs, like it's a safety helmet.
(speaking of ACTUAL special needs, eva has been doing so well this winter with her sensory issues. We upped all her supplements to compensate for being indoors so much more and having less stimulation as we're just stuck in the house. She's been doing much better at church and on shopping trips... She has plenty of rough days but the good has been out weighing the bad. We can't wait for spring and consistent beautiful weather! She gets SO much stimulation being outdoors and it's great for ALL of us. We took her off wheat and gluten and that has helped a lot too!)
We played with Photo Booth for a little while after dinner last night. Elias and Eva made a couple videos. Eli directed (as usual), narrated and picked out the effect he was going for (so excuse the weird pop art)... The MBP webcam really doesn't do well in anything but full sun, so i was manning the flashlight. Elias dances all the time to the music in his head, spinning, twirling, whatever... He has learned to channel his Inner-Napoleon-Dynamite..
Eva today, in all sincerity, told me that she really wants to be "a doggy, for real". She often plays dog but after watching a 'disc dog' competition (frisbee catching dogs) she went on for about ten minutes about how much she'd rather be a doggy than a girl. She would bark and catch frisbees and people could scratch her stomach. I told her that dogs don't get to eat chocolate or go to the mall or sing songs, she said that was okay.
Later on she told me that she used to be a real doggy before she was a little girl.
We took the kids duckpin bowling yesterday. We found lanes that have a special every Thursday... we were a day early i guess :o) They had a lot of fun, Eva is fighting sickness so she'll have more fun next time we go.
Elias ended up in second place yesterday! Duckpin (and gutter barriers) really levels the playing out.
I spent almost the whole day at 3200ASA 2.8f 1/40sec... I never realized how little light there is in there.
Eva was talking to Laura at the mall. We went there as a reward for everyone having a good day.
This is better than soda!
Eva and I are outside in the snow:
Eva: Dad! The snow tastes like mint!
Me: What does?
Eva: The snow!
Me: No it doesn't!
Eva: Yes it does! That's why they call it minter!
